DEVOTION ~ ELIJAH'S PRAYER
Theme: Elijah's Prayer Text: James 5:17&18 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. Having a firm and established relationship with God empowers us to command, and it is established. Elijah had an unwavering relationship with God and so could perform mighty miracles in his dispensation. Thanks be to Christ's gift of the Holy Spirit, we also have the grace to pray and transform the world around us. We don't necessarily have to pray for it not to rain, but rather pray for the evil not to prevail. Our prayers can also transform society into a better one and ensure we live peaceably with one another.
