DEVOTION ~ EPISTLE TO PERGAMOS
Theme: Epistle to Pergamos Text: Revelation 2:12 12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, 'These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword' In our previous devotion, we have looked at two great churches - Ephesus and Smyrna. Today's focus will be the Lord's letter to the church of Pergamos. The Lord addressed Himself as the One who has the sharp two-edged sword. The sharp two-edged sword is the Word of God which went out of the mouth of the Son of Man in Revelation 1:16. The Word of God is living, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart ( Hebrews 4:12 ). When the Lord's Word comes forth we ought to understand that it is intended to cut through without any resistance to bring to light what is hidden.
