Theme: The Gospel in Deeds
Text: Matthew 5:8-9
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Dear beloved in the Lord, how do you carry yourself in your daily activities with others? Do you have a challenge with how you perceive others? Does your mind communicate evil to your heart in this journey of life? To serve God well, you need to analyze the above questions and run a test on yourself in your relationship with God.
To have a pure heart, it must be backed by faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Purity of heart is a faithful walk with God knowing well your trust in Him won't be disappointed. In ugly circumstances, you don't see the mess but rather the saving grace of God. Enoch's walk with the Lord for three hundred years was by faith in God and God took him at the appointed time (Genesis 5:21-24).
Peace is an attribute of God. And so to be called a child of God, you need to possess that peace. To be a peacemaker, you need to possess the unconditional love of Christ Jesus. This love longs for the best for others even when faced with difficulties. Jesus' peace can't be compared to worldly peace for worldly peace has some sort of limitations. Don't be quick in stirring up discord among others for its abominable before God. (Read these texts for better understanding: John 14:27; Luke 22:49-51; Proverbs 6:19).
Prayer: Father in heaven, help me proclaim the Gospel in words and in deeds in Jesus name. AMEN!
