Theme: Withhold Not Your Testimonies
Text: Mark 5:16-20

16 And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. 17 Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region.
18 And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. 19 However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” 20 And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.

Testimonies reveal the power of God and lessens the devil's cunningness. In the text for our consideration, a demon possessed man encountered Jesus and has been delivered. The news went out like wildfire and in no time, the natives began to come and see for themselves. However, instead of sharing in the joy of their son and brother, the were gripped with fear, pleading Jesus departs from their region.

There are moments in people's life that they just can't believe the Hand of God is still at work amongst us. So they are quick to relate miracles to the powers of darkness. Though Jesus has often asked those He heals to be quiet or silence about it (Mark 7:36; Matthew 8:4; Luke 5:12). He did the reverse in this scenario. The man who had been demon possessed begged that he might be with Christ but Jesus gave him a different reply; "Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how He has had compassion on you" (vrs 19).

The man departed and did just us he has been told to do. The people who avoided Christ, now marveled at His doings. Dear beloved in the Lord, your testimonies will draw an unwilling soul to Christ and open greater doors for you. However little you think your testimony is, share it for you'll encourage someone with it. You have the key to your next level but can't locate the rightful door because you are not doing the right thing (sharing your testimonies). Rise up and speak it aloud, and you shall be blessed.

Prayer: Dear God, grant me the tongue to testify to your glory and help me never to withhold Your glory in Jesus name. AMEN!

  1. Powerful. Why is the reason for Jesus telling this particular case to go and show himself to his people.

Are there moments that we have be silent and moments to speak out what God has done for us per Jesus' action in these four scripture readings?

Can't wait for your answers. Thanks.
