Theme: Forgive Us O God!
Text: Daniel 9:16-19

16 “O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us. 17 Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate. 18 O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. 19 O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”

In the days of Daniel, he seek the face of the Lord for the redemption of his nation. Likewise as a child of God, you need to intercede for your family, church, nation, continent and the world at large. There's the need to learn to intercede for all that relate to you especially in their moment of affliction.

Daniel's approach is through confession and asking for God's mercy to heal, redeem and restore his people. He employed Moses' words in Deuteronomy 30:15-18;  “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
The times in which we find ourselves is very crucial and it demands we step in to intercede for our country, neighbors and places where the Covid 19 is on the rise like Italy. Rise up and plead with the Lord to have mercy on us all. The words of Daniel in the seventeenth and eighteenth verses should be our prayer that the Lord should have mercy on us in the world.

Dear beloved in the Lord, His word says if only we will confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from every unrighteousness. Let us open up to God and ask He forgive us for our willful sins, presumptuous sins, secret sins and the sins of rebellion. God created us and all things thereof on earth, He is able to save us if only we trust ourselves to Him in obedience. In Isaiah 57:16-18, God has assured He will not contend forever though He has afflicted us in His anger, yet He'll heal us. The eighteenth verse says; I have seen his ways, and will heal him; I will also lead him, And restore comforts to him And to his mourners.

Prayer: Dear God, we acknowledge we've done what's evil in Thy sight for long. We've failed to let You into our lives. But today, we've come before You, asking for Your mercies. Forgive us o God, cleanse us and our lands, heal and restore us to whole in Jesus' name. AMEN!
