Theme: Repentance Brings Deliverance
Text: Psalm 79:8-9
8 Oh, do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, for we have been brought very low.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, for Your name’s sake!
Confessions are required of us in Christ. We err each passing moment consciously and unconsciously. The evil thought that crept into your mind because of someone's post, utterance or physical appearance needs to be confessed. There are sins we have even sanitized in the name of the new normal. Sins can hinder your blessings and can also bring punishment as seen in Psalm 79 where the enemies have suppressed and destroyed Israel.
Israel in deep sorrows remembered what Moses had told them in Deuteronomy 28; the curse of the city, country, basket, kneading bowl, fields, livestock, even in going out and coming in ( Deuteronomy 28:15-24). In verse 25 & 26 of Deuteronomy 28, he said; 25 “The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth. 26 Your carcasses shall be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and no one shall frighten them away. However in obedience God will bless thier land and prosper them in all things (Deuteronomy 28:1-14).
These words comes now into remembrance leading to Israel pleading in the verses of consideration. They asked the Lord not to remember their former iniquities and show them mercy. Dear beloved in the Lord, what sin(s) are you battling with? Jesus is able to cleanse you if only you'll confess them. He has said, He is faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you from every unrighteousness (1 John 1:9-10). A penitent spirit is required in the believer's spirit.
Amazingly, they know the name of the Lord is a strong tower that brings safety (Proverbs 18:10). In our dispensation, the name of our Lord Jesus secures us far above any other name, for His name brings all things into order (Philippians 2:9-11). It is only in the Blood of Jesus atonement for sins can be provided. Confess all your sins to Jesus and lay them before Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you not to fall again. Go and sin no more.
Prayer: Dear God, I haven't been of good conduct in Your presence for some time now. I deserve all punishment from You but all I seek is mercy. I lay the sins of lust, greed, wickedness, pride, unfaithfulness in service, and every form of sin in me before Jesus and I asked His blood wash and cleanse me from these sins. I invite the Holy Spirit to come into my life and guide me in my journey with You in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!
Mercy on us. Thanks Love
