Theme: Achsah's Request
Text: Joshua 15:16-19

16 And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.” 17 So Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife. 18 Now it was so, when she came to him, that she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. So she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you wish?” 19 She answered, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

As we celebrate women all over the world, we'd like to look at one female biblical character and learn from her. Our character of study today is Achsah. She is the daughter of Caleb. Her father promised her in marriage to any man who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it. Her cousin, Othniel (the son of Kenaz brother of Caleb) succeeded and had her as his wife.

Her father has given her an inheritance of the land her husband has captured, but will the land produced without springs of water? Will the land be convenient for survival without water? This she considers and decided to plea of her husband to allow her to ask another thing from the father.

First on realizing her needs, she remembers, she's no longer under her father's roof but her husband's. She did what is required of a married woman; submission. She persuaded her husband in submission. Dear sisters in the Lord, are you submissive? Do you regard your husband or father before taking any action? Learn from Achsah and submit therefore unto your own husband for this pleases the Lord (Ephesians 5:22-24). Her submission opened a great door in her life. Stop allowing the world and its demonic principles take dominion over your marriage. Your children are looking up to you for you're their first role model before others come to play. The Holy Spirit can help you to be submissive. Forget about you paying the bills, taking care of the home, the husband isn't doing what he has to do so you won't give him the respect. Sister, that's the devil playing with you. He only wants to mess your home. Rise up and fight in the Lord. Heed to God's voice concerning marriage and planning of homes and peace shall prevail in your home.

Having been granted her desire by her husband, she quickly went to her father. She didn't go to her father to complain there isn't water where you're sending me. Rather she asked for water. I like her response when her father asked what she wants. She said, "Give me a blessing; since you've given me land, give me springs of water as well". Hallelujah! She knows it right. The springs of water is life, its really a blessing. By the well, Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, if you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, `Give Me a drink`, you would have asked Him and He would have given you a living water (John 4:10). My dear lady, what do you want daddy to give you as you're living the house; is it car, money, jewelry, tickets, etc? That won't last with you forever, but there's one thing that can last. That's Jesus Christ, yes! If He's in your home, you'll find that peace. If He's in your career, education, finances, businesses, and every field of yours, favour will speak for you. Ask for blessings divine, that no one can usurp from you. That's what Achsah asked for and Caleb gave her the the upper and lower springs. I call it dominion. Yes! If you have Christ, you equally have dominion over every thing. May God touch your heart this day, to seek after divine blessings that come from Jesus even now and forevermore.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for creating women as helpmates to support men. I pray this day, every woman receives Your blessings in every field of theirs. I pray You use me as a vessel to draw women to Your marvelous Light each day of my life in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!
