DEVOTION ~ BE A SIMEON!

Theme: Be a Simeon
Text: Luke 2:25-32

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: 29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word 30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, 32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”

God has been true with His promises with mankind from one generation to another. Simeon had a great relationship with God and he beheld God's promises for his life. The birth of Jesus has not been revealed to many just some selected few of which Simeon is one of such people.

The fact that God makes a promise does not mean you can live any how to claim it. It comes with commitment and focus. Simeon served faithfully in the temple and so was filled with the Holy Spirit. Oh mine! What others thought was away and far, he had very close to himself. The Holy Spirit was upon him when most people hardly hear from the Lord.

The Spirit of the Lord reveals hidden secrets. He can help you know what will become of you tomorrow and in the future. Simeon had a revelation of not seeing death until the Messiah is born. Do you know the future of your life, family, neighbors, community, nation, career, businesses, investments, children and all that's around you? I bet you can't certainly be sure the future will be blissful or stormy. But when you submit to God, and resist the devil, your future will be assured as Simeon's. The Holy Spirit will order your steps and will let you know where you ought to be and at what time. Simeon entered the temple the very moment Christ was brought in for dedication.

When God's glory comes upon you, your language is spirit filled and anyone who hears you speak knows God's grace is upon you. Simeon took the baby Jesus and worshipped God. When God brings your desires into fruition, always honour Him. Never take God's glory, direct it to Him and more doors will open in your favour. Simeon knew He'll behold the Messiah but as he worship the Lord, God revealed, the Messiah's grace will bring the Gentiles into the kingdom of God. Be grateful at all times and your miracle will continually overflow. If you are faithful with God, you'll confidently say, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Prayer: Thank You Lord, for opening the eyes of my understanding. Help me to serve dutifully like Simeon and have faith in all Your promises no matter how long it takes. Let me sing Your hallelujah at all times in Jesus' name. AMEN!
