DEVOTION ~ THE RULE CHANGING GOD

Theme: The Rule Changing God

Text: John 5:5-15

5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” 11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ” 12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” 15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

In yesterday's devotion, we learnt about the stirring of the Holy Spirit taking the account of the pool of Bethesda that receives an angelic stir. Today, we will look at the Divine Healer at the pool of Bethesda and how He changed the rule  to deliver a man who has suffered infirmity for thirty-eight years. This man had no one to push him into the pool when it is stirred. Due to this, he has remained there for these years not able to receive the healing he so desired. Without God's intervention in your life, stagnation will destroy your fields. 

The mercies of the Lord never come to an end as it is renewed each day. It is this mercy that located the man with infirmity for thirty-eight years when Jesus saw him. The Lord asked him if he wished to be healed. Instead of giving a straight forward reply, he was trying to justify why he has been long at the pool of Bethesda. Some of us have the attitude of this man trying to explain why things are not going well in our lives. But dear beloved in the Lord, God already knows about your situation. Yours is to believe is Word concerning that situation. Even if you can't find a good answer for God, He will still go ahead to perfect His will in your life. When God comes through for you, He takes away your imperfections and replaces it with His perfection. The perfection of Lord in your life brings about a turn around shifting you from nothingness to a place of abundance, disability to ability, and divine lifting. 

The change of his story on the Sabbath made those who should be rejoicing for his healing rather redirected the attention from his healing to the rules of the Sabbath. May the Lord crush all those who are not ready to rejoice with you when God changes your story. May their accusations of why you must receive that lifting be brought to nought. No one can stop your celebration and testimonies in this year and beyond. The rule can only be changed for you if you look up to God solely. Trust Him in all things for the lines shall fall in pleasant places for you and you'll partake of the godly heritage. 

Prayer: My God and Lord, I canonize Your holy name for Your great and marvelous works in my life. I decree a change of rule and protocol in every sphere of my life by the power of the Holy Spirit. May I daily experience Your touch even as I walk with You now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!
