Theme: Choosing Faith 
Text: Hebrews 11:35-38

35 Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. 36 Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. 37 They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented— 38 of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.


The life of the believer is about choices as Moses puts it; I set before you life and death but I encourage you to choose life. The believers of old chose faith above all other things presented to them. By choosing faith, their end became glorious as God is glorified in them. By faith some women received their dead raised to life again. What was dead was given life through faith. If you also faith, you can revive whatever needs to be revived in your life. (Deuteronomy 30:15-20; 1 Kings 17:17-24; John 11:20-44)

As others by faith received their dead back to life, other believers by faith denied their existence to promote the gospel. Christ said anyone who loses his life for His sake, will find it but to those who deny Him will by no means have life. That is why they were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. To choose to suffer for Christ is the wisest decision to make in life. The trials can be presented in the form of mockery, scourgings, put in chains, imprisonment, stoned, sawn in two, tempted, slain with the sword, wandered about in sheepskins and goatskin (self denial so they can have time for the gospel), being destitute, afflicted, and tormented. These were the cases of the Apostles of old yet they advanced the gospel by faith. (Matthew 16:24&25; Acts 5;17-42; 7:54-60; 12:1-25; 16:22-24; 22:25; 2 Corinthians 11:22-33)

Dear beloved in the Lord, it's time to decide to be on the Lord's side by faith. Reject the pleasures of the world and rise up for the gospel. By faith go out and proclaim to the world the salvation of God.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful in the things that concerns the advancement of the Gospel. Empower me to stand in faith in every area of my life even now and forevermore in Your Holy name have I asked. AMEN!
