DEVOTION ~ BEING SINCERE
16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” 19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”
In yesterday's devotion, we learnt the Samaritan woman desires that Jesus gives her the living water to drink so she won't need to draw from the well anymore. We will be looking at the response she received from the Lord in today's devotion. Jesus asked her to bring her husband of which she replied she has no husband.
The essence of the demand for her husband is, because he is her better half, and the pride of her glory. When we are called to serve, all we have must be surrendered. Whether gifts, talents, skills, or valuables in life, once we subject ourselves to the Lord, all these things must as well submit to God. This helps us to advance the ministry and as well shapes our social life.
Just like the Samaritan woman, many of us have abandon what genuinely is ours chasing after unprofitable things. It's time to reaccess our lives and be sincere to ourselves so as to follow the rightful path. We must see from the lense of the prophet through the enablement of the Holy Spirit so that, we can be guided by the truth. God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent so we can freely call on Him wherever we find ourselves. There's no barrier, restriction or hindrance in calling on the Lord, call on Him now.
Prayer: Dear God, create in me a new heart and mind from which the truth proceed without any doubt or lies. Help me to be sincere in every sphere of my life and in all that I do by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
