DEVOTION ~ THE WHITENED HARVEST
Theme: The Whitened Harvest
Text: John 4:34-38
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
In yesterday's devotion, we looked at divine food which is not ordinary but nourishes the soul, mind and spirit. Today's devotion is a build up on yesterday's discussion. Jesus indicated in the text that, His food is to do the Father's will and to finish the work given Him by the Father. The work for which He has been sent is to sow and harvest the souls of the saved.
Dear beloved in the Lord, we have been called not only to be saved, but also to ensure others do not perish either. We are to enter the field to labour and harvest it. Reach out to as many souls as you can today and daily about the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. There's a reward for partaking in the Great Commission. Do not delay with it at all.
It was the good work of the men of old (the apostles) that the Good News has been delivered to you. They laboured so that your soul wouldn't perish because the hour of the Lord's return is near. No one knows the hour the Saviour shall return that is why, every moment matters in the spread of the Gospel. Evil is on the increase daily, the message of salvation must abound to erase the works of wickedness and darkness.
Prayer: Dear God, I receive today the utterance of the Holy Spirit to spread the Word of God in all that I do. By the strength given me, I shall daily labour for You my God. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
