DEVOTION ~ ADAM
Theme: Adam
Text: Genesis 3:17-20
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” 20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
In today's devotion, we will be looking at the punishment God gave to Adam. The ground has been cursed because Adam failed to heed to God's command. Disobedience brings curses and sorrows in the life of anyone who is disobedient. The ground of our lives could be a field, career, business, education, marriage, children, health, or any area of our lives. These grounds were not designed to cause us pain, struggle or be hindered, but disobedience has caused them to be so. We need to break away from sin to attract God's divine grace into these grounds of our lives.
The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus. The fruit eaten by Adam and Eve does not only grant knowledge of good and evil but also leads to death. However, there's hope if we be in Christ for we shall attain eternal life. The life we live now shall be accounted for, so let us number our days and apply wisdom in all that we do. As Adam named Eve, it is important we learn to also take notes of things happening around us, and declare divine names for our circumstances. The power of the tongue brings either life or death so speak life into your life.
Prayer: Dear God, forgive us for not heeding to Your command and cleanse us by the Blood of Jesus Christ. Thank You for forgiving us, empower us in faith that we may walk continuously in obedience. It is written, You not not give help to angels but unto the seeds of Abraham, we declare divine assistance is locating every ground of our lives and power is changing hands unto the Hands of the Holy Spirit concerning us even now and forevermore in Jesus' name. AMEN!
Amen. Dear Lord, all we keep on asking is forgiveness of sins.
