DEVOTION ~ GOD'S SALVATION

Theme: God's Salvation
Text: Genesis 3:21-24

21 Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them. 22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

God's love towards the fallen man has never changed, He cared for man and has him in heart as His own image. After pronouncing punishment on all three, He looked out to the well-being of his human creation by providing protective clothing. The innocent killed for the guilty; the beginning of the salvation preparation (God showed his love on the human race that, while we were still sinners Christ died for us). An animal was killed to ensure man is well covered from the harsh weather.

God didn't just ended his work by providing clothing, He was concerned about the the soul of Adam and Eve. He can't watch them live in perpetual sin, so he had to protect them from eating the fruit of the tree of life. Man and his wife, were taken out of Eden the place of comfort, to till the ground outside Eden where their desires will not lead them to damnation. God position us in places our faith will not dwindle. A cherubim was placed at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

This flaming sword, is a representation of the Word of God as stated in Hebrew 4:12 ~ For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. What then, is the Word of God? The Word is Jesus Christ, He was in the beginning. Therefore anyone who desires to taste of the tree of life, must first be pierced by the sword to separate the flesh from the spirit, expose the ungodly thoughts and desires, then transform that individual in Christ Jesus. God's intent towards us are not evil but of good to bring us to an expected end.

Prayer: Abba! Father, I hallowed Your Holy name and give thanks for Your immeasurable love towards mankind from the time of creation to today and forevermore. I submit to You laying down all my sins and weaknesses before Your Throne of Mercy. Forgive me for not accepting the places You have positioned me to be. Help me to embrace Your Word and to abide faithfully in the Word. Thank You for the salvation of my soul in Jesus' name. AMEN!
