DEVOTION ~ SATISFIED WITH LONG LIFE

Theme: Satisfied With Long Life Text: Psalm 91:16 16  With long life I will satisfy him,  and show him My salvation. If God assures us of satisfying us with long life, it means a life full of good health (even if we fall sick His healing is assured), prosperity, and an abundance of blessings of opened heavens and breakthroughs. He will as well show us His saving grace in Christ Jesus. We will not be condemned but rather shown mercy. Grace will speak in all circumstances for us; barriers and protocols will be broken for our sake because we have set the Lord in our hearts.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for satisfying me with long life and Your glorious salvation. I declare every area of my life is satisfied with good news in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN! ⁿ

DEVOTION ~ GOD WILL ANSWER YOU

Theme: God Will Answer You Text: Psalm 91:15 15  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;  I will be with him in trouble;  I will deliver him and honour him. Being the beloved of the Lord opens divine doors of opportunities to us at all times no matter how they are presented to us. If our hearts yearn for the things of the Lord, He answers us when we call. It is written before we even call He will answer us and show us great and mighty things. Whether in joy or trouble our faithful God is ever present. He is Emmanuel! He will deliver us from the troubles that surround us and crown us with honour.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for being attentive to my cry. Help me to love You more and deliver me from all troubles that weigh me down in faith. I pray Your glorious honour to locate me in all that I do in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ SET YOUR LOVE ON GOD

Theme: Set Your Love on God Text: Psalm 91:14 14  Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;  I will set him on high because he has known My name. It is written that our hearts are set where our treasures are and that's very true. If we set our love unto the Lord it means our focus is to do His will irrespective of the outcomes whether favourable or not. If we have this kind of attitude, God will deliver us just as He delivered the three Hebrew boys ( Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah) and Daniel from the destruction of the wicked against them in Babylonian. The Lord will exalt us to higher grounds because we have ceaseless fellowship with Him. To know the Lord implies, knowing how capable He is, and understanding that nothing is impossible with Him.  PRAYER: Dear God, help me to set my love on You in all circumstances. I pray for Your deliverance to come quickly for me, my family, friends, neighbours, and loved ones in every area of our liv...

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Praise the Lord! You have been compassionate to me and my household in all things. I praise Your Name my King and Lord for You sent Your Word to heal and deliver us from the destruction of the wicked.  It is written according to Your own Word o God that,  “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  I declare upon Your faithful Word, You will never leave me nor forsake me. No evil can come near my tent. By the power of Your divine presence, I decree victory is mine and all that is mine (family, friends, neighbours, fix your associates..). So we boldly declare in the Name of Jesus Christ:  “The   Lord  is our  helper; we  will not fear. What can man do to us?” AMEN! Supporting Scripture: Psalm 107: 20 Hebrews 13:5b&6

CHARACTER STUDY ~ ATHALIAH

Athaliah was the daughter of Omri king of Israel. She was the mother of Ahaziah. Because of her quest to attain power, when she saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royals so none can take the throne from her. However, Ahaziah's sister, Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king's sons which were to be slain. Athalia was killed the day Joash was made king. Some lessons from the character of Athalia: * Do not use greed or dubious means to attain a position not meant for you. She never qualified to reign, that was why she tried to kill all the seed royals who could have ascended the throne. * God is able to deliver the innocent from the wicked. Joash was saved by Jehosheba and hidden for six years. If not for the mercies of God that would have not been successful. * Never run to the house of the Lord to accomplish evil. Athalia went to the temple intending to find out what the people were...

DEVOTION ~ YOU SHALL TRAMPLE THEM UNDERFOOT

Theme: You Shall Trample them Underfoot Text: Psalm 91: 13 13  You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,  the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. If you are on the Lord's side, you need not be scared of situations. The issues of life can sometimes be very scary and uncomfortable. It may seem these issues are weighing you heavily down but God has a solution to them all. He has given you the grace to trample all these issues underfoot. You will conquer and triumph to the glory of God because the Word of God has been settled in Christ Jesus.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your promises never fail. In Christ, I declare I shall trample over any storm of life and emerge victorious in all that I do. This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ WRAPPED IN GOD'S HANDS

Theme: Wrapped in God's Hand Text: Psalm 91:12 12  In their hands they shall bear you up,  lest you dash your foot against a stone. As we learned yesterday, angels have been assigned to each of us and these angels have a mandate to carry out around us. The text today informs us, that the angels will bear us up lest we dash our foot against a stone. They are assigned to ensure our challenges in life do not overwhelm us. They clear the obstacles in our ways so we can move to higher heights. Evil mistakes will not be permitted to operate in any area of our lives by the workings of these angels. PRAYER: Father, in Your love You have charged angels over our lives. It is written we won't dash our foot against any stone because they will bear us up. In the Name of Jesus Christ, we are delivered from any form of deadly mistake in every sphere of our lives. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ OUR ASSIGNED ANGELS

Theme: Our Assigned Angels Text: Psalm 91:11 11  For He shall give His angels charge over you,  to keep you in all your ways. As the Lord works out to secure us safely in His protective hedge covering, angels are assigned to each one of us in all our ways. These assigned angels are charged over us to keep us company in everything we do. We are never alone when going through the pains of life, battling sicknesses, and financial challenges, amongst others. Divinely we triumph over all these challenges and cannot tell how it all turns out for our good. That is because the angels charged over us are constantly working.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for assigning angels divine to me and all that is mine (family, friends, neighbours, etc). May these angels bring glad tidings all our ways in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ DWELLING PLACE

Theme: Dwelling Place Text: Psalm 91:9&10 9  Because you have made the  Lord , who is my refuge,  even the Most High, your dwelling place,  10  No evil shall befall you,  nor shall any plague come near your dwelling Shelter is a basic necessity for all humans even animals both in the physical and the spiritual. From the spiritual perspective, we need a higher power to always be there for us. God is the perfect ultimate refuge. If we make the Most High our dwelling place we have found for ourselves the best shelter. It is the best because  no evil shall befall us,  nor shall any plague come near us. Allow the Lord to secure your dwelling place for Christ's blood can do marvellous things in your life. PRAYER: In You, I trust o Lord to dwell in safety. May the Blood of Jesus Christ erase every evil label on me, my family, neighbours, friends and all that is mine. May no evil befall us nor any plague come near us in the Name of Jesu...

DEVOTION ~ IT SHALL NOT COME NEAR YOU

Theme: It Shall Not Come Near You Text: Psalm 91:7&8 7  A thousand may fall at your side,  and ten thousand at your right hand;  But it shall not come near you.  8  Only with your eyes shall you look,  and see the reward of the wicked. In the wings of the Lord, we are safe and guaranteed no evil can come near us. Indeed, a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand but it shall not come near us. God's protective shield always ensures that evil does not overcome us or distract our path unto righteousness. With our eyes, we shall look and see the reward of the wicked. The wicked will reap what they have sown. It is written, that the children's teeth will not be put on the edge because of what their fathers have eaten. That is how the wicked will be punished right before our very eyes.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your protective Hands over us. In the Name of Jesus Christ, no evil shall come near us and our households. T...

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

The Lord is King! Let the earth rejoice! Let the farthest coastlands be glad. For You o Lord, are Supreme over all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods. I bless Your Name because You protect the lives of Your own. It is written, " This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?" Lord Jesus Christ this is Your very Word in healing the woman who has  been crippled by an evil spirit for eighteen years on the Sabbath. I stand upon Your Word to declare, that I am a seed of Abraham, therefore I receive mercy from the Throne Room of Grace. I declare my healing, testimonies, breakthroughs, deliverance, promotion and all that I ought to have shall not be denied me in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. My week is blissful and marvellous in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN! Supporting Scriptures: Psalm 97:1;9&10; Luke 13:16

CHARACTER STUDY ~ AHITHOPHEL

Ahithophel means the brother of ruin or folly. He was a Gilonite and a counsellor to king David before the revolt of Absalom. He was the only person who supported the conspiracy of Absalom. His counsel has been in those days as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom. Characteristics of Ahithophel; * He had divine grace in counselling. God endowed him with wisdom to give counsel however he used it wrongly in his counsel to Absalom * His evil counsel for Absalom to sleep with his father's concubines fulfilled the Word of the Lord to David for killing Uriah  ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbour, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.   For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’ (2 Samuel 12:11&12) * K...

DEVOTION ~ YOU SHALL NOT BE AFRAID

Theme: You Shall Not be Afraid Text: Psalm 91:5&6 5  You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,  nor of the arrow that flies by day,  6  Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,  nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. In yesterday's devotion, we looked at God's truth as complete, a shield and buckler. We continue today to see another essence of truth. If we abide in the truth we will never be intimidated by the evil schemes and plots of the wicked. The terrors of the night are the conspiracies of the wicked we have no clue of against our lives. Their conspiracies are operated in darkness to birth pestilence in our lives .  Whereas we can say the arrows that fly by day are the plots of unfriendly friends in our lives. T he destruction that they lay waste at noonday against us shall be frustrated. If we speak and walk in truth, we shall not be afraid of them for God shall fight and avenge ...

DEVOTION ~ GOD'S TRUTH

Theme: God's Truth Text: Psalm 91:4 4  He shall cover you with His feathers,  and under His wings, you shall take refuge;  His truth shall be your shield and buckler. The truth is complete and whole without fractions of divergence view. The truth of God is in Jesus Christ for in Him has not been found any trace of lies or guilt. When we surrender to God, we come under His coverage. Just as the hen shields its chicks from the hawk so the Lord spreads His wings over us so that the wicked cannot have hold of us. It is when we abide in truth (Jesus Christ) that we receive the  shield and buckle to operate in the spiritual without fears. Let the truth guide you in all that you do. PRAYER: Dear God in You I take refuge. I pray to You to spread Your wings over my life, family, friends, neighbours, and world. May truth guide me in all that I do and may I triumph to Your glory in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ DELIVERANCE IS OF THE LORD

Theme: Deliverance is of the Lord Text: Psalm 91:3 3  Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler  and from the perilous pestilence. In yesterday's devotion, we said if we put our trust in the Lord, we can confidently say He is our refuge and fortress. Today's text assures us of His deliverance. The wicked always lay snares for the upright. The conspiracy, evil plots, and schemes of our adversaries are to bring us down in these difficult moments of life. The only one that can deliver us is God for with Him all things are possible. With the rage of pandemics and increasing death rates due to the pandemics, we need the divine assistance of God to overcome this global challenge.  PRAYER: Dear God, have mercy upon us and heal our land from the  perilous pestilence that has taken over the surface of the earth. I pray You to deliver me from the snares of the fowler in all areas of my life. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ TRUST GOD

Theme: Trust God Text: Psalm 91:2 2  I will say of the  Lord , “He is my refuge and my fortress;  My God, in Him I will trust.” Trust comes with building confidence in another to be with you through the thick and thin of life. Often we get disappointed when the people who assured us of being there never show up during our moments in the valley. That explains to you we are just humans seeking comfort, not distress. However, God is to be trusted a hundred per cent without any margin of error. The psalmist says God is his refuge and fortress. This implies God is always with him and ready to be there in his moment of help or need. You can equally rely on God in all that you do to bring you to an expected end.  PRAYER: Thank You Lord that You have created an avenue for me to trust You in all things. I declare You are my refuge and fortress in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ THE SECRET PLACE

Theme: The Secret Place Text: Psalm 91:1 91  He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High  shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. In every aspect of our lives, safety must always be paramount. When safety is compromised its consequences are very dear. So is it with the Christian journey. We need to be secured in the secret place of the Most High. The secret place of God is hidden from the wicked. They cannot locate you if you dwell there as they need to first battle it out with God before getting at you. The shadow of the Almighty God covers or shades us from harm when we dwell in His secret place.  PRAYER: Lord God, keep me safe in Your secret place and deliver me from the wicked. May I abide in Your shadow at all times in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Sing unto the Lord, o my soul and declare His faithfulness to the end of the earth. I worship You Lord for Your love, protection and provision in my life. Thank You for giving me another chance to triumph.  It is written, "The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them,  and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;  It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,  even with joy and singing". Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, restore unto me the wasted years, and opportunities. I decree by the grace of God through the working of the Holy Spirit, I am filled with gladness, every field of my life blossoms, and my week is filled with good news on all sides in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN! Isaiah 35:1&2a

CHARACTER STUDY ~ MARTHA

Martha was the sister of Mary and Lazarus dear friends of Jesus Christ. She has been noted for her hospitality and how she welcomed Jesus and His disciples to her home and served them neglecting to sit at the feet of the Teacher as did her sister Mary. The Lord told her, that she has allowed herself to be carried away by the worries of serving but her sister chose the best portion as a response when she asked the Lord to rebuke Mary for not assisting her. She also met the Lord and had a great conversation with Him before Lazarus was raised to life.  Some characteristics of Martha; * She was good at receiving guests but does not have time to have a one-on-one chat with her guests. We ought to make time for our guests so we can acquaint ourselves well with them.  * She was worried the Lord delayed in coming to save her brother. We need to also be concerned about the well-being of our loved ones but trust God for the best in all circumstances. * She pleaded for the salvation of L...

DEVOTION ~ THE OLD & NEW WINE

Theme: The Old & New Wine Text: Luke 5:39   39  And no one, having drunk old wine,   immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is   better.’ ” In yesterday's devotion, we learned about the old and new wineskins likening them to our perspectives before and after we came to accept Christ respectively. Today's text focuses on old and new wines.  The knowledge we've acquired over the years often gives us experience. Likewise does an old wine when it comes to taste. The lives we live without thinking of being accountable often we see as desiring than the ones we have to account for. May the Lord grant us grace not to love the old nature above the new nature in Christ Jesus. PRAYER: Abba! Father, open my spirit for Your glory. Teach me by the leading of the Holy Spirit to desire Your ways and will in all that I do. I resist the edge to fall into the sinful nature in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~NEW AND OLD WINESKINS

Theme: New and Old Wineskins Text: Luke 5:37&38 37  And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined.   38  But new wine must be put into new wineskins,   and both are preserved. In yesterday's devotion, we learned about the new and old garments. Today, we are going to have a look at new and old wine. Likening the wineskins to our perspectives in life, we would say our perspective about issues of life while in darkness (old wineskins) differs from us now walking in the light (the new wineskins). In the light, our perspective is geared often toward the spiritual than the physical for that matter, when reason fails, we employ faith. If we try to combine the ways of darkness with light, we will be ruined.  PRAYER: Father, help me to differentiate the old wineskins from the new wineskins so that I may have the right perspective in all that I do. This I ask in the Name of J...

DEVOTION ~ NEW AND OLD GARMENT

Theme: New And Old Garment Text: Luke 5:36 36  Then He spoke a parable to them:  “No one   puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was  taken  out of the new does not match the old. New garments look good on us all but as they are worn for a while and washed over the period, the beauty in them fades. Patching a new garment on it will make the garment  tear, and also the piece that was  taken  out of the new would not match the old. Likewise in our spiritual journey with the Lord, our old lifestyles must give way to the new life in Christ Jesus. We cannot continue in sin and take pride in the righteousness of Christ; we will never match well.  PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for opening the eyes of my understanding of how I ought to live. Come, Holy Spirit help me to never patch my new life in Christ Jesus to the old lifestyle of sin in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ THE BRIDEGROOM'S PRESENCE

Theme: The Bridegroom's Presence Text: Luke 5:34&35 34  And He said to them,  “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the   bridegroom is with them?   35  But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.” Jesus Christ is the bridegroom of the church (His bride) and with His presence, the disciples, need not worry. In yesterday's devotion, He was asked why His disciples were not fasting as the disciples of John the Baptist and the Pharisees. Today's text is His response. His presence has given coverage to the disciples but their fasting begins when He is taken away from them. In our dispensation, we ought to fast and pray without fail; it is for that reason we have been admonished to pray without ceasing. The Holy Spirit's presence empowers us to fast and pray with the essence of fellowship with God than to observe it as a ritual or tradition in the church.  PRAYER: Dear God, in Yo...

DEVOTION ~ BUT, YOURS EAT AND DRINK

Theme: But, Yours Eat and Drink Text; Luke 5:33 33  Then they said to Him, “Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?” Fasting and prayers are spiritual exercises that must not be seen as a normal routine. Fasting often to satisfy or meet the demand of your congregation's objective to earn a name isn't worth it. The disciples of John and the Pharisees were noted to set specific times in the week to fast to meet the demand of their ritual requirements. However, the disciples of Jesus Christ we're seen as gluttons. He was therefore asked why. Hopefully, tomorrow we will learn the response of Jesus Christ.  PRAYER: Dear God, teach us to understand the essence of fasting and prayers. May we not see it as a ritual but a moment to draw very close to You in fellowship. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Give thanks to the Lord, call on His Name, and make known among the nations what he has done. Our lips shall sing of Your goodness and declare the power of Your might. Thank You, Lord, for all You have done in our lives.  It is written, "By faith, Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised." I declare in the Name of Jesus Christ, that I receive and manifest in faith. I receive the strength to conceive seeds (ideas, concepts, visions, strategies, and all divine intervention) to bore a child (breakthroughs, testimonies, miracles, and all that I ought to possess in Christ Jesus. Thank You, Lord, that You are faithful in all things. Glory be to Your Name in Christ Jesus have I prayed. AMEN! Psalm 105:1 & Hebrews 11:11

CHARACTER STUDY OF BEZALEL

The name "Bezalel" means "In the shadow (protection) of God". He was the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. He was an artisan and endowed with wisdom to build the tabernacle of the Lord and the Ark of Covenant. Some Characteristics of Bezalel; * He was a craftsman; Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whom the  Lord  has put skill and intelligence to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary  * Despite his craftmanship, he took instruction from the Lord carefully to work in accordance with all that the  Lord  has commanded  * His work has been described as curious and cunning; he worked with gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood.  * One important thing to learn from the lifestyle of Bezalel is to avail ourselves for the Lord to use us mightily. We also ought to overcome pride and arrogance so we can please the Lord in humility.  SUPPORTING SCRIPTURES: Exodus 31-38

DEVOTION ~ JESUS THE PHYSICIAN

Theme: Jesus the Physician  Text: Luke 5:31&32 31  Jesus answered and said to them,  “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.   32  I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Jesus is the perfect Physician who can diagnose all manner of sicknesses. The complaints of the Scribes and Pharisees received a good response from Jesus in today's text. Jesus did not come to look out for the righteous but to draw sinners to Himself. There is an open invitation to us all to be pardoned of our sins if we confess them to the Lord.  However, when Jesus returns the second time, it will be to judge.  PRAYER: Dear God, heal me of my weaknesses and strengthen me to lay before You every form of sickness (the challenges of life) that You will deliver me from them all in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ THE ACCUSERS

Theme: The Accusers  Text: Luke 5:30   30  And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Levi's feast for Jesus in his house attracted well-wishers and accusers as well. The Scribes and Pharisees were there to point accusing fingers at the Lord for being a guest in the house of a tax collector. Do you also have the habit of condemning others because you feel you are in a better position than them? You are just in line with the Scribes and Pharisees, there's no difference between you all. No one is perfect so let's learn to appreciate the effort people put in when they come to the knowledge of Christ and want to walk in His will. If we claim to be true Christians then we must be ready to embrace new converts and instruct them in the Lord than condemn them.  PRAYER: Dear God, give me the right attitude towards others. Help me to refrain from accusing and condemning oth...

DEVOTION ~ INVITE JESUS HOME

Theme: Invite Jesus Home Text: Luke 5:29 29  Then Levi gave Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of tax collectors and others who sat down with them. In yesterday's devotion, Levi left all things behind to follow Jesus Christ. In the text for consideration, he invited the Lord to his home and gave Him a great feast. If we choose to follow the Lord, then He must continually be a guest in our homes. Our neighbours and families must also encounter Him just as we have. We invite Jesus into our homes when we encourage Bible study, cell meetings, choir rehearsals, prayers, and other Christian gatherings in our homes. PRAYER: Dear God, I invite You into my home to be Lord and King over my household. May Your presence draw my friends and neighbours closer to You for spiritual fellowship in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ FOLLOW JESUS

Theme: Follow Jesus Text: Luke 5:27&28 27  After these things He went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax office. And He said to him,  “Follow Me.”   28  So he left all, rose up, and followed Him. Many of us are quick to follow people on our social media handles not because we have a personal relationship with them but rather on grounds of they being celebrities. We don't have any direct benefit from such individuals yet we are ready to defend them wholeheartedly. If we can channel that same zeal in following Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, our eternal life is assured. Jesus is giving you an open invitation like that of Levi the tax collector. In following Christ, you need to leave all other things that distract (financial status, fame, pleasures, & the desires of the flesh) behind and diligently follow Him.  PRAYER: Stir in me dear God the desire to follow You diligently. Holy Spirit divine, help me to overcome every ...

DEVOTION ~ GLORIFY GOD

Theme: Glorify God Text: Luke 5:25&26 25  Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.  26  And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!” Today's text ends the scene with the paralyzed man  let down with  his  bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus by his friends. Jesus forgave his sins and said to him, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he rose and took up what he had been lying on. When grace intervenes, we conquer the challenges of life. Our response is to glorify God and that's exactly what he did. We ought to glorify God for others as well when God puts a new song in their mouths. Our God is a wonder-working God. His deed is often seen as strange by those who have not come into fellowship with Him. Our constant glorification of His Name ...
