DEVOTION ~ VALENTINE LIKE NO OTHER
Theme: Valentine Like No Other
Text: John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Guess you celebrated Valentine's Day for several years and still feel empty after February 14 this is because you might have been missing the right place to find true love and valentine. In Ravi Zacharias' "I Isaac take thee, Rebekah" his brother made a profound statement about love; “Love is as much a question of the will as it is of the emotion. And if you will to love somebody, you can”. Jesus willed to love us unconditionally and so offered Himself for our restoration with God. We do not need to offer any sacrifice. All that we need to do is to believe in Jesus as the Son of God. If we do so, then we shall escape the judgment of God. Christ did not come to the world to condemn it but through Him, the world be saved. That implies if you believe in Him you attain salvation through Him. However, be informed that the second coming of the Saviour will be to judge than to save.
While the love of God is expressed in John 3:16, the Christian's definition of love is fully summed up in 1 Corinthians 13. The action words used to define love inform us that love is hard work. Let us study what love is and not.
Love is: patient, kind, rejoices in truth, hopeful, and endures all circumstances
Love is not: jealous, boastful, proud, rude, selfish, provoked, does not think evil, or rejoice about injustice
Love never: give up, lose faith, or fail.
Is love really within you? You cannot offer what you do not have and you might not value what is offered to you if you do not know its value. May love take root in you so that you may bear fruit of what love is. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
PRAYER: Love Divine, I desire a touch of Your love in my heart that I may love others unconditionally. Grant me the strength to put love into action in all my relationships using Christ Jesus as my standard to love. Where I am rejected, afflicted, or mocked, may my love increase more. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
