CHARACTER STUDY ~ ZIPPORAH

The name, Zipporah is a Hebrew name meaning "Bird". She was an Ethiopian. She was the wife of Moses and the daughter of Jethro. She was a shepherd.


Some Characteristics of Zipporah:

✔ She was a shepherd. It was while she was keeping her father's flock she met Moses. We ought to get ourselves busy with work for doors of opportunity to open unto us. 

✔ She saved her husband and son by circumcising the foreskin of her son and touching the feet of her husband with it so the Lord could not kill Moses. We ought to gain insight into the things of God so that we do not become ignorant of what is required of us to do.  

✔ She bore two sons for Moses. They are Gershom and Eliezer. 

✔ She was an understanding wife who permitted her husband to embark on missions for God while she stayed with her father. Later her father reunited her with her husband. Couples should be supportive of their partners and encourage them to accomplish every mandate God has assigned the other.  

✔ Her in-laws were not pleased with her because she was an Ethiopian woman. May we not despise in-laws from other tribes but rather treat them as family.

Apollos means "one who destroys or a destroyer". He was a New Testament figure who steadily grew to become a servant of Jesus through ministry. DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked.
