CHARACTER STUDY ~ EPAPHRAS
The character for study today is Epaphras. The name Epaphras means lovely or covered with foam. He was mentioned in Paul's epistle to the Colossians and Philemon.
Some Characteristics of Epaphras:
√ Epaphras was described by the apostle Paul as a beloved co-worker in Christ. We need to build good lasting relationships with people we work with either at home, workplace, church, or the community. In so doing, we can also be praised as Epaphras.
√ Epaphras was a faithful servant of Christ. To be a faithful servant implies he was humble and dedicated to duty. May we also be committed to the chores assigned to us.
√ Epaphras was helpful to both the apostle Paul and the Colossian church. He availed to assist in whatever way he can to uplift the name of the Colossian church. In our own small way, we can also avail to serve for the growth of our local church.
√ Epaphras was a good witness. He testified about the work of the Holy Spirit in the Colossian church. We must cultivate the habit of encouraging others with the powerful work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and those around us.
√ The apostle Paul and his team kept the Colossian church in prayer because of the testimony Epaphras gave about it. Our kind and timely words can open doors for others.
√ Epaphras was an intercessor. He intercede for the Colossian church that God should make the church strong and perfect, with confidence that the Colossian church is following the whole will of God. Be an intercessor.
√ Epaphras exchange greetings with the believers in the epistles of Paul. We must learn to send our best regards to others.
√ There's no record of Epaphras' death in the Bible, although other Christian literature might contain it.
