Theme: The Book of Life
Text: Revelations 3:1-6


Memory verse ~ Revelations 3:5
He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.



Our fifth Church for consideration is Sardis. The Lord in addressing the church, introduced Himself as; He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars.

 The seven stars are the angels of the churches according to Revelations 1:20. It is evident each church has an angel. The seven Spirits of God irrespective of its manifestation in both the Old and New Canon are representing the same ideas when carefully looked at in Isaiah 11:2-3 & Romans 12:6-8. Isaiah outlined the seven Spirits of God as; the Spirit of God, the Spirit of - wisdom, understanding, counsel, might or strength, knowledge and the fear of the Lord. In Romans, the seven Spirit of God take the dimensions of - insight or prophecy, helpfulness ( ministry /service), instructions or teaching, encouragement, generosity or giving, leadership or guidance and compassion. This is to tell the church of Sardis that, it lacks the seven Spirits of God


These seven Spirits of God are essential to every believer. They must be well balanced in our lives so as to show forth we are really alive (active) in service. As a believer, examine yourself and outline the areas of your life that lack the seven Spirits of God and which of the Spirits also is most lacking in your life.


Amazingly, there were few names that have not defiled their garment within the church. Likewise in the world today, there are names in the church who have not defiled their garments. Are you a part of these few? What can you specifically point to, that qualifies you into this category? Repent, before the Lord comes to you. What will it profit you if you are disqualified from putting on the white garment or even finding your name in the Book of Life? Confess your sins  to the Lord and repent, so the Lord can confess your name before God the Father and His angels on that glorious day.




Prayer: Forgive me o Lord, for my unperfected works through laziness and excuses. Grant me grace to do Your will, cloth me in Your white garment and grant me grace for my name to be written in the Book of Life. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
