Theme: Invitation to sit on the Royal Throne of Christ.
Text: Revelations 3: 14-22
Memory verse ~ Revelations 3:20-21
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
The seventh church which happens to be the last is Laodicea. The church is noted for its lukewarmness and so the Lord introduced Himself as:
"These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God."
The Lord is Amen, that's to say, He permits things to be or come true. He as well is faithful and true witness, which implies, our Lord is constantly true to His Word and does not act in any unfaithfulness. He has been there from the beginning and so, knows all things. The church however lacks these characteristics of the Lord and goes contrary to them.
The Laodicea church is neither hot nor cold. The lukewarmness of the church makes it vulnerable spiritually. The Lord said He will vomit them out of His mouth. The church is indecisive on who to truthfully serve. Some Christians fall under this category, where to them, they are only giving what belongs to Caesar to Caesar by going to worship partake in the African traditional rites a little and coming to put on the Christian faith garment afterwards. This is wrong and must not be practice.
Though the church is physically rich yet spiritually it is poor. The Lord has asked the church to buy His refined gold that they may be rich. Gaining knowledge in the word of God is wealth. It equips the believer spiritually to discern all spirits: to know the good and the bad. The white garment is a symbolism of purity. Evil uncovers our nakedness ( Genesis 3:7). The anointing of the eye with salve is to serves as a divine opening to discerning the things of the Lord.
Beloved in the Lord, the chastisement of the Lord leads us back on track and delivers us from danger. The Lord is knocking on the door of your heart. Will you allow Him in? He will come in and have fellowship with you. His promise is that, if you overcome, He will make you sit on His throne just as He overcame and sat with the Father on His throne. It is therefore important to understand as a believer that, for every obstacle you overcome, there is a promise to be fulfilled in your life by the Lord Jesus the Christ .
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I invite you into my life to be Lord of all that I'm made up of. Help me to keep the fire burning at all times. AMEN!
