Theme: Have the Mind of a Warrior
Text: 2 Samuel 11:5-13
Memory Verse ~ 2 Samuel 11:11
11 And Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.”
Yesterday, we studied on how David was entice to sin and how he couldn't resist committing adultery. The result of this infidelity is a pregnancy and his cunning ways to escape responsibility will be our focus of discussion.
On sensing danger, David attempted dubious means to escape from his guilt. He sent for Uriah and hope to make him go home and lay with his wife, but Uriah did not fall to it. Beloved in the Lord, it's not every invitation that is honourable. Likewise not all counsel is worth obeying. At all times, you need the guidance of the Holy Spirit in decisions that are very daisy. You need to know what is good and acceptable before God above what human knowledge may term comfort or opportunity.
If Uriah had gone home, he will have ended up touching his wife and would have brought disaster or evil to the warrior's camp or even fathered a child that isn't his. Do not be too clouded by comfort at the expense of your spiritual obligation of keeping your garment clean. Warrior of Christ, you need to study the Bible and understand how to live as light even in the darkest place. Whatever action you have to take, examine if it will win a soul for Christ or drive souls away from Christ.
Prayer: Teach me Your precepts o Lord, that I may live in accordance with Your Word. Amen!
