Theme: Do Away With the Idols
Text: Daniel 3:1-7
Memory Verse ~ Daniel 3:4-6
4 Then a herald cried aloud: “To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, 5 that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up; 6 and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.”
The Lord our God has warn us on idol worshipping ( Exodus 20:1-6). Just as in the days of Nebuchadnezzar he erected an idol for his subjects to worship, so has the human race in one way or the other established idols in their daily lives.
The idols of the human race include social media, jobs, associations, telenovelas and other TV programmes. What are you addicted to? What takes your maximum attention and the time you want to spend with God? Where does your worship and praise go to?
In the text, it would be noted that, musical instruments are essential in worship. In Psalm 150 the psalmist made mention of all these however, his is to the praise of the Almighty God. Use your voice, might and resources to praise God (Luke 19:40). Break away from every idol that takes the Father's praise. You have been created to worship God so do it to perfection.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, touch my lips with Your praise that I may declare Your goodness continually. AMEN!
