Theme: The Triumphing Glory
Text: Psalm 2:1-3
Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
The text for our consideration today is basically about the Messiah and His antagonists. The birth of the Messiah was characterized with evil plot as Herod became uncomfortable on hearing the birth of a king from the Maggie that paid him visit. He sent out his soldiers to kill every male boy below the age of two. However this evil plot of his could not even take the life of the Messiah because Joseph was informed in a dream to take Him to Egypt until the opportune time comes (Matthew 2:1-18).
Beloved in the Lord, our adversaries are still waging war against us. They`ve set themselves against us with all manner of evil rules with the aim of tainting our garment. The question in the first verse is, "Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing? Rage means a feeling or expression of violent and uncontrollable anger. The nations (unbelievers) are in rage because their evil rule has been exposed. Their tyranny, corruption, injustice, and the likes have been laid to bare. They have therefore set themselves against us who believe in the Messiah`s rule.
Just as they`ve crucified the Lord, so are they plotting against us. We therefore need to be vigilant as we go about the Kingdom works. Don`t let the desires of the flesh lead you astray (Matthew 10:16, 1 Peter 5:8). Be mindful with your association for their target is to sow the seed of discord amongst us. Irrespective of the congregation you fellowship, help to revive other congregations that need assistance either spiritually or physically. This will help us to enlarge our Lord`s Kingdom on earth. No matter the plots the adversaries, praise be to God that victory is ours because all their plots are in vain.
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the mercies of overcoming every evil plot against our lives as a church. Fill us with Your power to never give up no matter the circumstances that we encounter in our respective ministries in Jesus name have we asked. AMEN!
