Theme: The Reviving Blood
Text: Matthew 27:50-54
50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
The death of Christ is one to empathize with when the account is been given. An innocent Man led to the cross to be crucified. He died a painful and shameful death for the sake of mankind. His death brought life and restoration than damnation.
Beloved in the Lord, we will look at two accounts of innocent blood been shared. That's the innocent blood of Abel who was killed by his brother Cain and the innocent blood of Jesus Christ who was put to death by his own (Genesis 4:1-12 and Matthew 27:1-50). When Abel died, his blood cried out to the Lord and his murderer was punished ( Genesis 4:10-12). However, the blood of Jesus when shared, gave restoration and life of the fallen man. This is manifested in the immediate things that took place when Jesus died. The Veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom. As the Veil has been torn into two, it paved way for us to have access into the most Holy of Holies. We are free to come to the Lord's presence without any limitations (Hebrews 9:11-15). Our High Priest used His own blood to atone for our sins. His sacrifice is once and forever it is fresh on the alter for our sake.
The next is the quaking of the earth and the bringing to life of the saints who had fallen asleep. Christ said, He is the resurrection and the life. Yes, indeed He is. It takes only the life giver to bring back to life those who have fallen asleep just like Lazarus in John 11:25-44. Whatever is dead in your life can be brought back to life by the mercies of the speaking blood of Jesus. Is it your marriage, career, investment, education, peace of mind, progress or any other challenge of life? Bring it to the restorer and He will restore you to whole. Christ didn't die in vain. He died that we may have life in fullness. What a privilege to carry all our burdens to the Lord that He will deliver us from them all (Matthew 11:28-30).
The blood of Jesus Christ is still speaking positively in our days. All you need to do is to tap into it in faith. His blood is speaking better things far above Abel's blood on our behalf (Hebrews 12:24).
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for sharing Your blood for our redemption. Keep us under this protective hedge in faith and take away every fear and doubt even now and forevermore in Your name have we asked. AMEN!
