Theme: Possessing a Forgiving Spirit.
Text: Mark 11:25-26
25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
The Christian journey is a journey that can successfully be completed if love abides in your heart. Where love resides, there's forgiveness. To forgive is to pardon your offenders or better still let go of evil from your heart and allowing the seed of love to manifest in your relationship with those who do evil towards you.
Jesus has been very firm on forgiveness and in teaching His disciples how to pray, He established a clause that states; "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us" (Matthew 6:12;14-15). Beloved, your key to be pardon is to pardon others. Christ's blood wipes away your guilt so you must also freely forgive your offenders. Start your forgiveness process by renewing your mind with the Word of God. The study of the Word of God, makes you reason in the path of righteousness and have the mind of Christ.
As admonished in 1 John 4:7-11, let us love one another. God's love for mankind made Him sent His only begotten Son to redeem a sinful people. Note, not when we were righteous but rather in our sinfulness. The Apostles and believers of old imitated Jesus by forgiving their offenders. One typical example is the death of Stephen. He forgave his murderers and ask his blood should not be charge against them (Acts 7:55-8:2). Do you have difficulty in letting go? Do you have challenges in forgiving others? Strive to let go of the pain, and allow the healing power of Christ's blood to take away the pain. Avail your spirit to the Holy Spirit so as to possess the forgiving Spirit.
Prayer: My Lord, my God, I've hold on to pain for too long and I've been unforgiving towards my trespassers. But this day, I ask that You give me a renewed mind and a forgiving heart to freely forgive in all circumstances in Jesus name have I asked. AMEN!
