Theme: A Good Neighbour, You Must Be
Text: Luke 10:25-37
Memory verse ~ Luke 10:36-37
36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”
37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Being a neighbour, is not limited by geographical location. That is to say, your neighbours are not just those you share common wall with. It goes beyond that. You must be a neighbour to all you come across in discharging your duties in life as a teacher, pastor, health giver, administrator, security personnel, vendor, trader, student amongst others.
Many have cloud themselves with excuses they call genuine so as to escape being a neighbour to someone. The Priest and Levite, should have been in a better position to help this wounded man but, they each went their way. Have you also done this before when someone genuinely needed your help? It is not necessarily a wounded person. It could be that child who cried all day because he is hungry and his parents are not around. Is It that colleague at work who needs your help to stand in for him/her? Is It that orphans, widow/widower, aged, poor, blind, or physically challenged individual asking for your assistance? Have you become a stranger to your wife/husband, children, parents or other family members? It's time to rise up and become that neighbour Christ has called you to be. Show love to all people and put smiles on a face. Let someone say of you, I've met Christ himself today.
In discharging this duty, you need to also apply wisdom. People have device all form of evil and tend to take advantage of people in usurping them. Some even could be a plot to take your life. Anytime you want to offer help, seek the Lord's face and be directed. You need to be careful by being calm as a dove and wise as a serpent (Matthew 10:16). Be a neighbour of change. God bless you and have a Spirit filled day.
Prayer: Spirit divine, I humbly ask Your guidance in my journey of life, that I may be a good neighbour to all and bring those in darkness into the marvelous Light of Christ even now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!
