Theme: Diligently Observe the Lord's Command
Text: Deuteronomy 8:1-5

8 “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and  multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. 5 You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.

The journey of life comes with challenges which either build you, or pull you down. You're  pulled down if you do not have the the leading of God. However, if the Spirit of God guides you, you'll soar higher and never weary. The Israelites were led by God from the land of bondage and were nearing the land of promise when Moses exhorted them to remember the Lord their God.

The command of the Lord must not be taken for granted. Anyone who diligently observes it multiplies his/her days on earth as well as enjoys the blessings of the Lord that gives increase. You cannot enter into greatness with arrogance even if you do, it will not last long and you'll be down to nothing (Proverbs 18:12).

The leading of the Lord makes us humble and the Lord exalts the humble (Psalm 25:9, Proverbs 22:4). Beloved, Christ said this kind does not go easily unless by fasting and prayers (Matthew 17:21) which implies we ought to fast and pray over certain happenings in our lives. You must not be a lazy Christian who thinks God will provide everything and so does not make time to fast and pray. You must not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Fasting is good for the soul both spiritually and physically. You've eaten for long, take a break and fast (have a fellowship with the Lord in divine reflection of the past, present and future) so as to break yokes in your life, family, church, workplace, community, and nation.

The chastening of the Lord is good. For the Lord chastens whom that he loves. God loves you and will chasten you when you're going wayward (Proverbs 3:12). Accept the chastening and become penitent (Hebrews 12:6-11). Your lifting will emerge from the chastening. Apologize to the Lord for resisting His chastening all these years. Be lifted in your spirit with a hymn or song and enter into prayer.

Prayer: Abba Father, I humbly come this day asking for Your guidance. Rule over my life and let every yoke of darkness be broken in my life. May every tree You have not planted be uprooted and consumed by the fire of the Holy Spirit that I will enjoy Your perfect will in my life even now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!
