Theme: Wait Upon the Lord
Text: Isaiah 30:15-18

15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,
16 And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses” -Therefore you shall flee!
And, “We will ride on swift horses” — Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!
17 One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, At the threat of five you shall flee, Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain And as a banner on a hill.
18 Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

True rest comes from the Lord. Our physical rest can't be compared to the rest in Christ Jesus. For He has called unto us to come rest our burdened souls before Him (Matthew 11:28-30). The call to return to the Lord is a call to repentance. We are saved by grace in Christ Jesus. We ought to rely on Him for salvation and strength to do exploit. Have you harden your heart to the Lord's calling? Do you trust in your wealth or good health to turn things around well in your life? They will surely fail you. You need God to be your deliverer.

If you fail to submit to God, you'll be ruled and controlled by the powers of darkness. Fear will cripple you and you shall be liken to a pole on top of a mountain and a banner on a hill. Banners have no control over their movement. So will it be unto anyone who's hope is not in the Lord. You'll be like chaff being driven by the wind (Psalm 1:4).

The Lord awaits your return just as the father of the prodigal son yearns the return of his son. Amazingly, he saw him from afar and he run to welcome him back home (Luke 15:11-20). God is faithful to forgive you if you return to Him in penitence (1 John 1:9).  There is blessing divine in trusting and waiting upon the Lord. Our God is a God of Ye and Amen! He'll never fail in any promise He makes to us.

Prayer: Father in heaven, forgive me for my fears and doubts. Empower me to live faithfully in You and to show forth Your glory in every action I take even now and forevermore in Jesus name. AMEN!
