Theme: Acquiring Wisdom
Text: Proverbs 1:1-7

1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:
2 To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity;
4 To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, 6 To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

King Solomon was blessed with wisdom above all people in his days and thereafter (1 Kings 3:9-12). He used it in giving guidance to all who take time to read and apply wisdom to his sayings.

You need to develop yourself through the study of the Word of God as well as understanding the world in which you dwell. This aids your judgment on issues of life. You're not easily carried away by worldly teachings but rather you stand firmly to project the knowledge of God to a perishing world. Cultivate a habit of reading this year. Make time for your devotion and acquire new skills this year.

Give reverence to God at all times. In obedience, you're endowed with divine knowledge, wisdom and understanding. The fear of God, is doing His will. His will directs your perspective of life and how to relate with others. Anyone who fails to pay heed to God, suffers the consequences severely.

Prayer: Teach me Lord how I may fear Thee. Grant me the grace to do Your will even in challenging situations in Jesus name. AMEN!
