Devotion

Theme: A Call to Repentance
Text:Jeremiah 4:4

Circumcise (dedicate, sanctify) yourselves to the Lord And remove the foreskin [sins] of your heart, Men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Or else My wrath will go forth like fire [consuming all that gets in its way] And burn and there will be no one to quench it, Because of the evil of your acts.”

Sin distant you from God. However, if you identify and confess them, the blood of Jesus draws you closer to God. The circumcision of your evil heart begins with the knowledge of the Word of God. The Word equips you to understand every deceit of the devil and his agents. You need to have time for the study of the Word of God and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to walk rightly before the Lord.

A time is coming when you can't confess again. That time could be when you are dead or the Day of Judgement. Beloved, Revelations 20:12-15 gives deeper understanding of the wrath that will consume and no one can quench it.

"12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire."

Where will you spend your eternity? Will it be with Christ and the host of believers or in the lake of fire with the devil and the sons of disobedience? Moses said I've set before you life and death. His desire is the Israelites choose life ( Deuteronomy 30:15-20). You can divinely escape hell if you accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior.

Prayer: Dear God, awaken me from my sinful slumber and give me an obedient spirit to serve you faithfully all the days of my life in Jesus name. AMEN!
