Theme: In Solitude With God
Text: Matthew 14:23
23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.
The Master of all things in His walk upon the earth has led a life of solitary at the beginning and close of each day. Jesus isolates Himself from the disciples and crowd to pray. The verse for today is an example. Likewise the Gethsemane and other moments in His life (Matthew 26:36-46, Mark 1:35; 6:46, Luke 5:16; 6:12).
You must also develop such attitude of solitary living so as to have a quiet time with the Lord. David Wilcox in answering his audience on how he is able to compose his song said, he undergo three processes: a quiet room, an empty page and the question, is there something I should know?
These three processes can be applicable in your live as believer. You need to make room for quietness where you have fellowship with God and conveniently the early hours of the day (dawn). During that time, have your Bible, devotional guide and writing materials to write down what you've acquired during the study. Then ask the question and wait on God to reveal to you through the Holy Spirit what you ought to know concerning the biblical text you've read for the day. This keeps you spiritually alive and alert. Imitate Christ's solitary lifestyle.
Prayer: Dear God, teach me to have time for You alone. Help me to begin and end my day in solitary with You so I can have a meaningful conversation with You in Jesus name. AMEN!
