Theme:The Acceptable Tabernacle
Text: Matthew 19:1-8
17 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” 8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
Dear beloved in the Lord, you can only gain salvation through Jesus and nothing else. When Christ was transfigure before Peter, James and John, the appearance look so spectacular unto them that Peter wanted to build three tents in memorial to the event. This was however not acceptable before God.
To reorder the disciples to track, God overshadowed them and spoke to them saying, "This is My Beloved Son, in whom I AM well pleased. Hear Him!" The other tabernacles where not needed only that of Christ must stand.
Moses did led Israel out of Egypt but not to the promised land because of disobedience. His tent, can't be emulated by Christians. To be a follower of Christ, you must adhere to His teaching not going left or right from what He has instructed you to do. The Father will then make His tent in you (John 14:15;21-24).
Elijah did marvelously in his days but fear manifested itself in him. Fear that's not towards God is sinful and must not be part of the believer ( Romans 8:15; 14:23). This fear weakens the believer's faith. Your tent should not have elements of fear.
What tabernacles are you trusting in? If it is not Christ's, then ask the Holy Spirit to redirect you to the rightful and acceptable tabernacle which is solely in Christ Jesus. If you lift up your heads you must see only Jesus and no other person.
Prayer: Thank you God for awakening my spirit to Christ Jesus. Teach me to love and obey Him in all things in Jesus name. AMEN!
