Theme: The Unexpected Miracle
Text: Luke 7:11-15
11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.
The widow of Nain had nothing left expect her pathetic story (she's lost her husband and now her only consolation, her son is also dead) which she believes will linger on with her until she eventually dies herself. There was no hope of not reaching the cemetery but when Christ came into the story, everything changed.
Christ can equally change your story too. The Lord is compassionate and understands your situations even better than yourself. What is really troubling you in life? Don't rely on human beings rather channel it to God. Though the widow gage no invitation to Christ, yet He intervened. How much more will He not do better things for you who calls on Him. Jeremiah 17:5-8 puts it as; 5 Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. 6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited.
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.
If you trust in the Lord, your coffin bearers (troubles in life) will not reach your graveyard (the point of your helplessness) for the unexpected miracle of the Lord will come your way.
Prayer: Dear God, You were at Nain to give hope to the widow. Please pass me not by. Perform and perfect miracles in my life, marriage, children, career, business, investment, education, family, and every area of my life to reveal Your in Jesus name. AMEN!
