DEVOTION

Theme: Defying Grace!
Text: Jeremiah 7:8-11

8 “Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit. 9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know, 10 and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, ‘We are delivered to do all these abominations’? 11 Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says the Lord.

Many people have taken the message of grace in divergent perspective and not as it ought to work with believers in Christ Jesus. This is similar to what happened in the days the prophet Jeremiah. The people were of evil heart putting their trust in deceit. To them, God has liberated them from the bondage of Egypt to do what pleases them. That's never true. So is it with some Christians today. They steal, kill, commit fornication and adultery, swear falsely, bow to idols, and all the abominations you can think of. On Sunday or during service, they put up all the holy gymnastics as though they've done nothing. The question of the Apostle Paul to the Roman church will be asked; What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans 6:1&2). The Lord knows what's in the heart and mind of every living creature and He sure does know yours too. Are you living a double life? It's time to stand firm in the Light.

Don't make your tent(body) a den of thieves. Jesus once cleared the physical temple in Matthew 21:12&13 where it's recorded; 12 Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ” The Saviour of your soul is asking of you to make your soul a house of prayer for your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Grace abounds but it does not mean sin. If you're in Christ, then you must imitate Him. Romans 6:3&4 says;  3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Decide today that you will not defy the grace that the Lord has granted you. Once united with God, remain united forever.

Prayer: Abba Father, I come before your presence and I ask of You to help me walk in Your will and ways. Take off the cloth of deceit and double life from me. Make me faithful even unto the second appearing of the King of glory in Jesus name have I prayed. AMEN!
