DEVOTION

Theme: Jesus Prayed for Us
Text: John 17:15-23

15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

The men of old had priests that go on each year to pray for the forgiveness of their sins. The priest will either returned alive or will be pull out of the Lord's presence dead. However, in our dispensation, a High Priest went in to make a lasting sacrifice for us all and He still lives. This High Priest is Jesus Christ.

Dear beloved, when He was to take up our sins to the cross, He didn't leave us uncovered. He prayed for us all. He didn't pray the Father to take us out of the world, but to preserve us from the evil one. Darkness can't preserve you from the evil one but Jesus the light of the world is able to preserve you from evil. The truth of the Word shall serve as a tool of sanctification. You can't go out to proclaim Christ if you have no knowledge of His Word. Study the Word of God and reach out to others with the Word. Christ has empowered you by uniting you to Himself and the Father.

Have faith in Jesus and believe every promise He has said concerning your life. His prayer for you is to be strengthened in moments of despair and when everything seems impossible, you'll hear His voice, it is possible.

Prayer: Thank You Saviour of the world for Your love, support and prayers for me. Let Your perfect will for my life come to pass in Your name have I asked. AMEN!
