Theme: Jesus Christ Our Mystery
Text: 1 Timothy 3:14-16
14 These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; 15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.
The church is the pillar and ground of truth whose mystery can't be fathomed by mere mortals. It takes the power of the Holy Spirit to discern this knowledge and get better understanding. The head of the church is Jesus Christ who also is an example to the church. The Christian must emulate all the lifestyle outline by the Apostle Paul in the first thirteen verses of first Timothy chapter three.
Jesus isn't just anybody but a child promised to redeem the world (Isaiah 9:6-7). He accomplished every word concerning Him and ascended to heaven and will return as the Righteous Judge. Thursday 21st May, 2020 is Ascension Day, and would like to use the verse of our consideration to throw more light on the mystery of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He manifested in the flesh. The Angle Gabriel announced His birth and through the Virgin Mary, He was born. He was dedicated just like any male child of Israel. He grew up like us yet He did not conform to the deeds of the flesh (Luke 2).
He was justified by the Spirit as the Son of God after John had baptized Him. John saw the Spirit of God descended from heaven like a dove and a voice was heard saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I AM well pleased" (Matthew 3:13-17). The same Spirit led Him into the wilderness where He fasted forty days and nights (Matthew 4:1-2). The Holy Spirit has equally affirmed you a coheir to Christ Jesus.
When He overcame the devil's temptations, angels came ministering to Him (Matthew 4:11). You can also have angelic visitations if you quench the devil's wicked passions in you and put on Christ.
The gospel wasn't limited to the Jews alone but the Gentiles also found favour with God through Jesus Christ. Peter's vision gave a vivid account of the saving grace of God on the Gentile nations as God shows no partiality for He accepts those who fear Him (Acts 10:9-48). The Apostle Paul did well in the spread of the Gospel in the Gentile nations.
The heart of many has come to the knowledge that, Jesus is the surest way to salvation and no other means.
Jesus' ministry on earth with the disciples ended when He ascended into heaven. He was received into glory as His disciples look on (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:9-11).
Prayer: Thank you Father for the gift of our Savior, I worship and honour Your sovereignty. It's my prayer, I walk with Christ at all times in holiness teaching others to do Your will in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!
Amen. #Jesus is the surest way to salvation.
