DEVOTION ~ FLICKERY DETHRONES

Theme: Flickery Dethrones
Text: 2 Peter 3:17-18

17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Most believers are taken off guard because, they often think they are steadfast whereas there are loopholes of flicks in their relationship with God. Flickery is the act of  change frequently, suddenly or unexpectedly. Some Christians know God when the waves or tides are calm, however when the tides become very high, they turn to seek protection from idols who cannot save themselves. Some also practice the reverse, when the tides are calm, then they take to worldly pleasures believing "You Only  Live Once (Yolo)" or  forthe "Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)". Once the tides become high, they quickly start drawing to God to calm their storms. If you fall in any of the above categories, then you have a fickle faith.

The Apostle Peter, speaks of God's promises and how it never slacks and further made mention of the Day of the Lord in the early verses of second Peter chapter three. His caution here is for believers to be on guard. This is because the agents of Antichrist dwell amongst us and have taken over the podium performing magics in the name of miracle, giving false teachings in the name of prophetic or prosperity messages taking away the one thing needed to give man salvation ~Jesus Christ from their messages. They preach themselves until close of service. Beware of them. What they do is enticing but it's end result is destruction so beware of them before you also fall from your own steadfastness being led away with errors of the wicked.

Grace comes from God and He gives it for free to those who believe. You need to grow in this grace through constant fellowship with God. His grace abounds so it can't be limited in your life. You'll know Christ better if you make time to study the Word of God. Your daily devotion is key to knowing Him well. He is revealed in both the Old and New Testaments. Jesus said you shouldn't be lukewarm, if not, He'll vomit you out of His mouth (Revelation 3:15-16). If you're in the Lord, then stand firm no matter the plight so you don't loose your throne. Keep in mind, flickery dethrones your glory in the Lord.

Prayer: Dear God, I thank You for Your grace through my life's journey. I pray you increase my faith in You. Make me be firmly rooted in You so I can overcome the deceit and evil schemes of the evil one in Jesus' name have I asked. AMEN!
