DEVOTION ~ GOD, MY BEST TRAINER!

Theme: God, My Best Trainer! 

Text: Psalm 144:1-2

Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle— ² My lovingkindness and my fortress,
My high tower and my deliverer,
My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.

There's no warrior who wins without training. If training helps in the success story, then a trainer is required to measure the level of performance at every stage of the training. For the believer, the ultimate trainer is God. No wonder the psalmist says, the Lord trains his hands for war and fingers for battle. Skills are acquired by making use of your hands and fingers: how to use the spear, sword, javelin, bow and arrow, hold your shield, gun and how well to position yourself into battle.

In your life's journey, you will also need to equip your hands and fingers to be able to defeat the enemy in battle. The hands and fingers get well trained for battle depending on how best you pick your weapon (Bible) and studies it. What does your hands and fingers easily pick? I guess it's your phone or some electronic gadget or even a magazine. Those items don't position you for spiritual battles. The Bible has answers to how you can overcome the cunning schemes of the devil. Pick up your Bible in the morning, noon, evening and at night. Cultivate the habit of practicing the word of God as that's how best you can be equipped for battle. Jesus is your Rock of Salvation, but remember ignorance or lack of this knowledge can lead you to perish without enjoying the free gift of salvation (Proverbs 5:23; Hosea 4:6). You'll lack the knowledge of the Word of God if you don't use it daily through reading, meditation and practice. 

The Word of God guides you to know the lovingkindness of God is immeasurable and in His glory, He draws you (sinner) to Himself to wash you of your guilt using the blood of the unblemished Lamb (Jesus) to pacify you. He then hedges you in His Castle and gives you all the needed security to keep you safe. So you can boldly declare in times of danger without doubt that, God is your fortress, high tower, deliverer and shield so no harm shall come near me. He will subdue your adversaries under your feet. You'll tread on serpents, scorpions and all powers of the enemy and no harm shall come to you. Your name will also be written in heaven and when the Book of life is opened, your name will be found in it (Luke 10:19-20). Turn to the best trainer and submit to Him so He can train your hands for war and your fingers for battle. 

Prayer: My best Trainer, I'm sorry for not submitting to Your divine training in the years past. I pray for Your forgiveness. I thank You too for not giving up on me even when I constantly flee from Your presence. Give me this grace to also not give up on Your training no matter how tough it becomes in my life. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
