DEVOTION ~ CHOSEN - BE EQUIPPED!

Theme: Chosen - Be Equipped! 
Text: Psalm 78:70-72

70 He also chose David His servant,
And took him from the sheepfolds; 
71 From following the ewes that had young He brought him, to shepherd Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. 72 So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.



For every passing seconds, God chooses us for a divine mandate. He has chosen you too for a purpose in His Kingdom. David was taken from the sheepfold to rule as king over Israel. God prepared him through the lessons of taking care of the flock. This enable David to understand what is means to give security and meet the needs of the people. God doesn't just push you to occupy a position. He prepares you both spiritually and physically for the assignment. Don't see the training moment as a torture. Rather learn from every lessen and build yourself up for the higher task. 

When David assended the throne as king, the psalmist says, he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. The integrity of his heart is his faith in the Lord. David upheld his faith in the Lord in all things and believed God is able to lead him through life. This made him led Israel in the fear of the Lord and the nations continual hope was in the Lord and not in idols. Is God having a good place in your heart? If you're not firmly rooted in faith, you'll compromise your believes when taking decisions on issues that go against God. What you have is what you give and teach others to do. Let the Spirit of God have His full way in you so you can carry out your duties well. 

The other aspect of David's rule is, he guided his subjects by the skillfulness of his hands. In whatever position you occupy be it as a parent, teacher, pastor, health worker, military personnel, trader, artisan, etc - do well to equip yourself with some skills. As a Christian, equip yourself first with all spiritual gifts and the fruit of the Spirit. These will help you to be in tune with the Holy Spirit at all times. Your works will also prosper and you'll enjoy of the good of your labour. Because you walk the talk, your followers will also do same and it will manifest in your productivity. 

You've been chosen, but if you're not well prepared for the task, you won't enjoy it. However, if you learn and build up yourself well, then you'll find the calling more fulfilling and as a divine lifting. 


Prayer: Thank You God for choosing me to serve You and my fellow human beings. I pray I learn from every lesson whether pleasant or unpleasant. Help me to uphold my integrity in You in all situations. Equip me with physical and spiritual skills to carry out my divine assignment with all joy in Jesus' name. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
