DEVOTION ~ THE COVENANT KEEPING GOD

Theme: The Covenant Keeping God 
Text: Genesis 28:13-15

13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14 Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”



God established a relationship with Abraham from the day Abraham adhere to God's voice to leave his father's house. The relationship was sealed with a covenant in circumcision. The child of promise was Isaac who happen to be the father of Jacob. In yesterday's devotion, we saw how Jacob rested on a rock when it was dusk and divinely had a dream of the ladder set upon the earth and the top reaching heaven. We are continuing today to learn what the Lord said unto Jacob in that dream.

Identity is important in building relationships. If you're not well acquainted with people, it's difficult to open up to them and develop good rapport. God doesn't want Jacob to be at sea with His Word, so He first revealed His identity to him. God said, “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac". He wanted Jacob to understand that, He had been Lord over His father and grandfather and so must Jacob equally honour Him as God. It is important for you to lead your children and household to God and teach them to humble themselves before God.

God's promises are Ye and Amen! The Lord promised to give that land to Jacob and his descendants. To God's glory this was carried out many years after the promise was given. God kept to His Word and He will do same in your life. I wonder if you can count all Christians in the world single handedly without calling for help. We are like the dust of the earth; spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south. Anyone who desires God's blessings need to call on Jesus and it clearly explains how in the seed of Jacob all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 

The covenant keeping God, has never for once forsaken us even in our sinfulness. God has kept us wherever we go and we have possessed our possessions in every sphere of our lives. You may not see what God does behind the scene, but never be discouraged. Rather trust God to bring you to His resting place. The God who fulfills every Word of His, visit you and accomplish His will in your life. 



Prayer: My God and King, who never relent in keeping to His promises. You deserve glory and honour for answering me when I deserve it not. I pray the Holy Spirit to increase my faith in You and help me not to loose my covenanr in you. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!

    All that's MATTER is you ,pls LORD GOD don't take away from me the HOLY SPIRIT n HELP me in all DIVERSE ways. Amen

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
