DEVOTION ~ HUMBLE STEWARDSHIP

Theme: Humble Stewardship
Text: 1 Peter 4:7-11

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Though no one can tell when the end will come, we can see signs that attest the end is very near (Matthew 24). It is for this reason we must pay much attention to the Apostle Paul's admonishing to be serious and watchful is prayers. This will help us not to be taken off guard by the devil and his agents. It will also help us to show love as Christ has thought us ( John 13:34-35). Our love for each other will cover multide of sins as there'll be forgiveness. Room will be created for us all to serve rightly in our capacities.

Hospitality should also be a part of our stewardship. When serving others, we need not to grumble but to serve efficiently and effectively. God has given each of us a gift to minister with. We must all use our gifts to build the church and expand the Kingdom of God. The stewardship should not be carried out cynically but selflessly so as to reveal God's glory. The Apostle Paul further explains; If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies. It implies, whether you're a pastor, teacher, evangelist, apostle or a prophet, do not use your gift to promote yourself but rather to promote God.

In whatever capacity you're called to serve in the vineyard, you have to do it to God's glory solely. Be a humble steward to the Lord so that, in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. AMEN!

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for calling me into Your Vineyard as a steward. I know I've not projected You like I've done of myself in discharging my duties. I always want to take Your glory. Forgive me for this act of mine. I pray the Holy Spirit to teach me to direct Your glory back to You in whatever service I render in Jesus' name. AMEN!
