DEVOTION ~ RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SALVATION
Theme: Righteousness and Salvation
Text: Romans 10:8-13
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Words have strong power and influence over our lives. We must therefore watch our words well before uttering them. To control our words, we need to instill a disciple spirit within us in our heart. Without an inner disciplined heart, it will be difficult of us to speak the rightful words. As Jesus puts it, from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34; Luke 6:45).
As believers, our lips should be used to serve the Lord and our hearts to believe Him in all things. By the mercies of God, the Word is closer to us in written, visual and audio forms. All it takes to draw nearer is the mouth and the heart. We need to confess our faith in Jesus at all times and believe He is alive so would we someday be like Him.
Our hearts drive us into living a faith filled life in Christ Jesus. This faith birth divine righteousness in us which is of God. Our father Abraham obtain good report on this (Hebrews 11). Our lips must also confess Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour to be saved. Salvation is a FREE GIFT from God through Jesus Christ. It is when we believe and confess Him that we are saved (John 3:16; Romans 10:13).
God won't put to shame anyone who believes in Him. Whether you're a Jew or Greek, your salvation is hundred percent secured if you believe and confess Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. You've been saved by grace, take hold of it and don't miss the opportunity.
Prayer: My heart and mouth do I surrender completely to You O God. Teach me to believe You wholeheartedly and to confess Your redemptive grace over my life at all times. I pray the mark of righteousness and salvation be evident in my conduct and speech in Jesus' name. AMEN!
Amen. Salvation by grace.
