Theme: Search for the Hidden Treasure
Text: Matthew 13:44-46

44 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.


In life, treasures are often hidden from the reach of man. It will take efforts coupled with determination to lay hold of treasures. Pearls are hidden in the earth, beauty is hidden within and not on the outside, wisdom is hidden in the mind and it comes from God. Likewise spiritual things are hidden from the carnally minded. The text for consideration is on the parable of heaven and what it's likened to. 

The salvation of our souls is a hidden treasure which can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit to us. In our weaknesses and filth, when we hear the message of hope and salvation, we need to embrace it like the man who found a hidden treasure on the field. We need to surrender to Christ completely by trading all that we have that holds us in spiritual poverty: lies, fornication, idolatry, wickedness, just name the sins, and buy the field of divine riches in Christ Jesus. What will it profit you to gain the whole world and forfeit your soul?

The soul desires to have eternal life and not damnation. Just like the merchant, if you come to know Christ, who is the giver of life (the pearl), you need to accept Him into your life. The price or cost of coming to Christ is confession and having a penitent spirit. You need to do away with the sinful nature and unite yourself with Jesus. There might be some habits you find comfortable living, but do those habits really give you the inner peace and fulfillment you so desire? They only leave you empty every time they are withdrawn. Those are the possessions the merchant had. But once he found what will give him peace and fulfillment, he gave up on all he ever had. Likewise must you also give up every lifestyle that leads you into darkness and embrace the Light of God in Jesus Christ.

The only moment you can search the hidden treasures of God is here on earth. You can't search it in the grave. Trade all your sinfulness for the redemption in Christ Jesus while you're still alive. You can't tell when the life in you will be asked for. So, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added unto you. Stay blessed and be encouraged to seek for the Lord while He can be found.


Prayer:  Dear God, Your treasures are divinely hidden in Christ Jesus. I come to You for You've called that I should come and buy for free. I surrender every will of mine to You. Teach me to seek Your Kingdom and righteousness at all times. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!

    Amen. Lord help me to search for the hidden treasures of pearls right on earth as am alive so that at the end of my life, l must not be pleading for forgiveness and second chance for repentance in Jesus Name.

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
