DEVOTION ~WHAT DO YOU HEAR OR SEE?

Text: Proverbs 20:12

12 The hearing ear and the seeing eye,
The Lord has made them both.


Every organ of the human body is made by God to function for various purposes. The ears and eye aren't different. Our ears help us to hear and the eyes to see. They both play a great role in our communication with others. However, if we don't use them wisely, we won't be able to glorify God.

The hearing ear is for us to hear from God and take Instructions. God speaks to us daily but if we fill our ears with news that are not of God, we often don't hear Him clearly. Eli never heard from God for long because his sons continually did the abominable. However, the little boy Samuel heard from God even in the midst of evildoers because his hearts is in line with God (1 Samuel 3). Abraham, Moses, and the prophets heard from God because they were attentive to God's voice than any other voice. You can also hear from God if you allow the Good News (Gospel) to fill your ears. You're a lamb of the pasture and so you need to be able to differentiate the Shepherd's voice from the enemy (John 10:1-5). May your ears be opened to hear the Father's voice.

The seeing eye is for us to see the secret things of the Lord. Does your eyes behold the beauty of God's glory or its stationed on pornography, pilfering, pride, wickedness, evil and other things of darkness? What you see does registers in your mind and it plays consciously and unconsciously in your deeds. Never be idle, if not, the devil will find work for you. Always engage your eyes in the study of the Bible, read and meditate on it daily (Psalm 1). It will bring you good health. Activate your spiritual eyes all the time. Joseph, Daniel, Paul, Peter, John and other believers had a taste of the goodness of their spiritual eyes. You're enjoying of this benefit today too. What benefits will others enjoy from you too? Will it be total darkness or a divine light that guides their path as your family, spouse, friends, colleagues, neighbors, fellow citizens, etc - when you return home to your Maker?

You've been created in God's image and likeliness, use your ears and eyes wisely for His glory. Whenever you're about to hear or see something you'll not sure of, just ask the question: "Will God hear or see this thing?" If He won't, then flee from it. May the Holy Spirit illuminate your path and help you to know what to hear and see as you journey in this world.


Prayer: Dear God, I'm so grateful for giving me two ears and eyes to hear of and see Your divine glory. I'm sorry for not using them wisely all these years of my life. Help me to use them well from this day forth. I pray the Holy Spirit give me a touch to birth my spiritual ears for descerning and spiritual eyes for seeing into Your beautiful vision for all creations in Jesus' name have I asked. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

What inhibits you determines what comes out of you. The two elements are light and darkness. The light within produces good, whereas darkness is evil. It is recorded in  Ephesians 5:8-9 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good, right, and true.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I no longer walk in darkness but rather in light. Therefore, every product of darkness within and around me is extinct. I decree that my family and I live in light, and we enjoy what the light produces in fullness. Our deeds are good, right, and true. AMEN!"
