DEVOTION ~ THE HELPER

Theme: The Helper 
Text: John 14:15-18

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.



There's struggle in every stage of life be it growing up into adolescent, adulthood, going to school, getting a job, running a business, performing house chores etc.. We need someone to give a helping hand one way or the other. Usually this help comes from close allied who want to lessen our burdens. There's also a Spiritual Being that is with us to help us as pilgrims. He is the Holy Spirit whom Jesus has assured His disciples.

Jesus admonished His disciples to keep His command if they love Him. This means obedience is an act of love; respecting the will and desire of God. In this love, the Helper will locate you and abide with you forever. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He teaches and guides us on the right path or way to go so as to be obedient children of God. The sons of disobedient, cannot have any fruitful relationship with Him because, they are spiritually dead and cannot associate with Him.

However, we as Christians have Him with us. He is within us making us the temple of God. The psalmist said; surely goodness and mercies shall follow me all the days of my life and  I'll dwell in the house of God forever (Psalm 23:6). In our dispensation, this goodness dwells in us and we are the house of God. So we will boldly say individually that, goodness and mercies are following me all the days of my life and I'm dwelling in the house of God forever. The Holy Spirit is with us at all times, so we aren't alone in life. He is our Helper in life, look to Him and invite Him in every step you make in life. He will bear your burdens and relieve you of all your pain.


Prayer: Thank You Lord, for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Please help me to avail myself for the Holy Spirit to have His own way in my life. Help me Holy Spirit divine to make the right decisions in life that I may not sin against You. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

What inhibits you determines what comes out of you. The two elements are light and darkness. The light within produces good, whereas darkness is evil. It is recorded in  Ephesians 5:8-9 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good, right, and true.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I no longer walk in darkness but rather in light. Therefore, every product of darkness within and around me is extinct. I decree that my family and I live in light, and we enjoy what the light produces in fullness. Our deeds are good, right, and true. AMEN!"
