DEVOTION ~ YOU'RE UNLEAVENED
Theme: You're Unleavened
Text: 1 Corinthians 5:6-8
6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
When we come to Christ, His glory overshadows us granting us access to be glorified (Romans 8:28-30). However, the desires of the flesh often makes us seek carnal glory above this immeasurable glory in the Lord. The glory of the world is purely about fame. This is not the kind of glory we as Christians should be striving for as its purpose is to gratify our carnal nature and neglecting the spiritual.
Dear beloved in the Lord, so long as you have the title a Christian, you need to do what's expected of you as one. Little bits of sin committed continually, destroy your spiritual beauty. Take note, no sin is bigger than the other. Sin is sin. The little lies, unforgiveness, bitterness, etc mature into what you have no control over again. So if the Apostle Paul admonishes us that a little leaven leavens the whole lump, therefore we must purge out the old leaven. Then we should understand what we consider insignificant sin will soon consume us if we don't stop it now.
You're unleaven and so let this be seen about you. The work of the cross isn't a joke but it shows forth the saving power of God unto a perishing soul. In Christ you've been made new so let this newness reflect in your daily life. Break every tie with the world and put on Christ. Let the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth have its root in you.
Prayer: My faithful High Priest, I'm grateful for Your atoning blood for my sins. Forgive me for still entertaining sin in my life. I pray the Holy Spirit to help me to live the unleavened life in Jesus Christ. May the leaven power of sin and its desire be broken, uprooted and consumed by the fire of the Holy Spirit. This I pray for in Jesus' name. AMEN!
Amen.
