DEVOTION ~ DIVINE INCREASE
Theme: Divine Increase
Text: Exodus 1:1-7
1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob: 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; 3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; 4 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 5 All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).
6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. 7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
The descendants of Jacob found their way into Egypt through Joseph during the time of famine when he was made the prime minister by Pharoah. Seventy of them entered Egypt and were given warm reception. The land of Goshen was given unto them and they were greatly blessed by God.
With time, the early generations vaded out through death. There's also a moment in our lives when we will have to return back to the the Lord. We must each prepare for that day. However, as we exit the stage of life, it must not diminish our family (the ministry, blood relations and workplace). Dear beloved in the Lord, as children of the Most High, we must pray for our descendants to increase greatly. This increase should not just be by number but in every good thing.
The early fathers of Israel died yet they were fruitful, increased abundantly, multiplied, grew exceedingly mighty and the land was filled with them. This is how we should constantly seek to see divine increase in our ministries, family, workplaces and nation. We must strive to train others after us to keep the name of the family. If we look up to God, He will bless us abundantly and satisfy us with good things. Indeed the blessings of the Lord gives wealth and adds no sorrows. Let us draw near to God as the Israelites and we will see how divinely the Lord will increase us on all sides.
Prayer: Dear God, I'm grateful for Your protection and provision over my family, ministry and labour. My increase comes from You alone. Help me to trust You wholeheartedly and serve Thee with all my will. May Your divine blessings continually speak over all that I have and will possess in the future. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
