DEVOTION ~ HOPE IN THE LORD

Theme: Hope in the Lord 
Text: Psalm 146:3-5

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. 5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. 


We're usually preoccupied by life's issues that we tend to push our attentions on specific people to help us out in certain ways. It's not a bad thing to rely on others to get things done, but it is unwise to put all your hopes in man to help you. The psalmist said, we shouldn't put our hopes in man in whom there's no help. Man is but breath. No man has control over his breath for it comes from the Lord. If the Lord should take it, he/she will perish with his/her dreams. Death brings an end to all our plans, however God is active and alive so we must put our trust in Him alone. 

As believers, we need to understand trusting in God is more secured than trusting in man. Our fellow human beings can fail or betray us even in the things we trust them with. This will bring about our hurt and disappointment. God does not fail neither does he disappoint in keeping any of His promises made to us. Even in our unfaithfulness, God remains loyal and faithful towards us.

If we make the Lord our hope, we will enjoy all His divine benefits. In the midst of the storm, God's saving grace will come through for us. He has said; When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior (Isaiah 43:2-3). If you've hoped in your fellow human being all these years without results to show, even where there are results, it's accompanied with its own challenges, then redirect your hope to God. God is faithful all the times. 



Prayer: In You alone I put my trust O God. I've relied on my strength and the words of my fellow human beings but it all amounted to nothing. However, with You I know all things are possible. I pray You establish me well in the faith that my hope in You will not dwindle. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

What inhibits you determines what comes out of you. The two elements are light and darkness. The light within produces good, whereas darkness is evil. It is recorded in  Ephesians 5:8-9 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good, right, and true.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I no longer walk in darkness but rather in light. Therefore, every product of darkness within and around me is extinct. I decree that my family and I live in light, and we enjoy what the light produces in fullness. Our deeds are good, right, and true. AMEN!"
