DEVOTION ~ THE IMAGE OF GOD
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Having created for five days and putting things right, God then said, "Let Us create man in Our image." So God created us in His image to be like Him. The nature of God, is fruitfulness and having dominion. This nature of God has been destroy through our early parents but through Jesus Christ, we can have this nature.
As children of God, we deed to multiply not only through procreation, but through evangelism. We need to constantly desire and strive to win souls to God's glory. This will make us subdue the works of darkness with its wickedness in our ministry, family, community, workplace and nation. We must fill the earth for it is the footstool of our God. How well are we as individuals working at being fruitful, multiplying and subduing the earth with the knowledge of God? If this isn't our desire, then dominion cannot also locate us.
The result of subduing, is dominion. We can't have dominion on a ground we haven't subdued. Understand that, the job position you're hoping to occupy, can only be possible if you're much vexed with it. You ought to learn to be fruitful and multiply so as to subdue the challenges that come with the position. In education, if you fail to acquire fruitful grades through effective studying, you can't have dominion as a best student. In ministry, you can't be fruitful in the absence of the Holy Spirit. You need Him to be able to carry out duties perfectly so as to have dominion.
God's provision for our enlargement is evident: the seeds and fruits of the trees will help us cultivate more crops. There's a divine provision for our ministry, marriage, children, education, business, career, etc. We can only tap into it when we draw more closer to God. His fear brings wisdom to enlighten us in what actions to take or not to take. May the lines fall in pleasant places for us as we look up to God in all things.
Prayer: My Lord and my God, in Your perfect image have You created me so I may have Your nature. Forgive me for making mockery of Your nature by heeding to the voice of evil. I invite the Holy Spirit to come have His way in me. Make me fruitful, multiply my gains both physical and spiritual, give me grace to subdue and the power to have dominion in all I do. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
