DEVOTION ~ LOVE ENDLESSLY

Theme: Love Endlessly 
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12

9 But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; 10 and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; 11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, 12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.



In our devotion yesterday, we learnt we must desire to live in purity more and more. We are continuing today with love for others. I love it when the Apostle Paul mentioned it that, concerning brotherly love, he need not write on that for God has already taught the church how to love. Yes, the love of God is demonstrated in Christ Jesus that, while we were still sinners, Christ came to die for us. Christ has also instructed us to keep the commandments in love. We are to love as Christ has loved us unconditionally.

Our love for others should teach us to know the limit we can intrude into their affairs. Living a quiet live and minding our own business is a character we must all possess as Christians. It does not mean we should not be concerned about others but rather avoid entangling ourselves in unnecessary issues of others. It's not everything that we must poke our nose into. There are issues we must overlook so as to promote brotherly love and peace.

If we are occupied with work, we would not devote time for unnecessary conversations that will hurt others. That's why we must find some work to do before the devil finds work for us. The income we generate will help us to be able to help others in need. Our Christian walk should reflect more and more of giving than receiving. In doing this we show love not just in words but in deeds as well. May the love of Christ increase more and more in our lives.



Prayer: Dear God I pray Your love in me increase more and more. Take away fear and  doubt. May Your will and glory be revealed in Jesus' name have I prayed. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
